Prayers for Your Safety

Have you been harboring thoughts of fear about your safety?

Do you want to regain a calm, peaceful, secure feeling?   

In these challenging times, when we hear so much about crime, mass shootings, nuclear disarmament, climate change, epidemics, war, gang violence, storms, floods, fires, accidents, opioid addiction and a thousand other difficulties, it is important to use prayers of protection so that “no harm will come near you.”

Prayers for protection and safety will help you release fears as well as give you a sense of calm as they enfold you in the love, power, protection, and safety of the divine.

Though the act of prayer itself will protect you, definite prayers of protection are even more powerful.

Using prayers of protection, you can mentally and emotionally say “no” to negative experiences and shield yourself against injury, danger, loss, unhappiness and the many negative experiences of life.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you

I feel sad when I hear people remark, “Our thoughts and prayers are with you” is no longer meaningful. Prayer is the first place we should turn to when disaster strikes (and even before any disaster strikes).

In truth, it is our connection to the divine presence within... linking our mind and heart with the mind of God that provides protection, healing, and comfort. Equally important, it can inspire a wisdom that can bring real solutions to restore peace to our lives and our world.

Pray protectively for yourself

Prayers of protection work in all areas of your life. They protect your health, wealth, job security, personal safety, relationships, and happiness.

Affirm ~ I am surrounded by the pure white light of the Christ Spirit. I am safe and secure. 

Pray protectively for your loved ones

Your protective prayers work for others as well. Prayers of protection by even one member of a family, can bring safety and peace for all members.

Affirm ~ You are surrounded by the pure white light of the Christ Spirit. You are safe and secure. 

My refuge and fortress

One of the most famous and satisfying promises for divine protection given to us is the Psalm of Protection, better known as Psalm 91.

If you say, ‘The LORD is my refuge,’ and you make the Most High your dwelling place, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will give his angels charge over you to guard you in all your ways. Psalm 91:9-11 

The Psalmist knew how important it was to pray prayers of protection as he guarded his flocks against wild animals, inclement weather and the need to find green pastures and water. Listen to how closely his words support our own need to feel reassured.

I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his truth is a shield and a buckler. You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but no harm will come near you. Psalm 91:2-7

The full armor of God

As you pray for divine protection, safety, peace, and security....see yourself armored with the full armor of God. See this armor able to withstand any assault, equipped with spiritual power to repel anything negative that might come near you. Expand this repelling energy around you in all directions for as far as you can imagine, so no harm can ever reach you. Allow your armor to be penetrated only by divine love, so that only that which is for your highest good can reach you. 

Entrust your day to God’s care and keeping

Make it a habit to begin your day with a prayer of safety, both for yourself and others. Place yourself, your loved ones, and all your activities in the safety of the divine.

Affirm ~ The power of God protects me; the presence of God watches over me.  

Remind yourself that God is truly taking care of that which you have given over into his care. As you go about your day, more and more you will find yourself easily able to deny any feelings of fear that try to arise as you continue affirming God’s protective presence. You’ll feel relaxed and peaceful and; the possibility of hazardous events will no longer cause you any uneasiness as you are kept safe and secure in every way.
