Do you ever struggle to follow through on your ideas?
Friends tell me things like, “I get really passionate about something, but then it never seems to go anywhere. I get stuck.”
I’m sure you can relate. . .
You get a great idea to do something new. Maybe it’s to find a new job or side gig, learn a new language, or take up a hobby.
You start out with lots of enthusiasm… but over time your motivation wanes, the momentum slows and eventually you abandon your idea.
Wouldn’t you enjoy knowing why this happens… and how can you stay on track to your dreams?
Here are 2 not-so-secret ways to help you follow through on your great ideas.
The secret to following through on your great ideas…
Secret #1 Stop telling yourself it’s been done before
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard this. I used to say it too.
Here’s what I believe about that idea-burner. . .
It doesn’t matter if you want to photograph weddings, sell pottery, start a meet-up group. The world needs your wisdom, love, and talent.
Yes, other people have done it. Other people are doing it right now.
When this nasty voice pops up in my head, it helps me to think of companies like McDonalds and Burger King.
They are competitors, often physically located directly across the street from each other.
What if Burger King believed it was no use trying to sell burgers because McDonald’s was already selling millions?
Don’t they both offer essentially the same product. . . hamburgers?
I feel they would each tell me, “No!”
They would say their product is different, better, more delicious, because they have their own unique presentation, they add their own “secret sauce.”
You have your own secret sauce.
No one does what you do in your unique way!
So, when you hear yourself say, “So many people already do this thing I want to do,” recognize this:
There are far more people in need of your gifts
than there are people giving those gifts.
Make this your go-to mantra for the next 21 days.
Secret #2 Step beyond fear of failure
This is a big one. Fear of failure keeps us stuck, scared and frustrated. But there is a simple solution: Take action!
Key to taking action, is to do so without any stressful expectations.
You don’t have to do everything. You don’t have to get “it” perfect.
Just do one thing.
If you want to become a florist, sell your clothes online, start a meet-up group. . . just do one thing.
If you want to become a florist, start by arranging one bouquet, take a photo and offer it for sale online or. . . give it away to someone for their birthday.
Have zero expectations of anyone buying it. Just get it out there.
This goes for anything. Research potential meet up groups, choose the clothes you want to sell.
Do the thing you love to do and don’t worry about the results.
What matters is that you:
Because. . . when you work in love, you elevate your vibrational frequency. And joyful, loving energy attracts support from the universe.
Commit to one small action every day. It is far more powerful than starting and abandoning 5 or 6 different things.
Here is one simple action you can take right now to build your vibration of joy.
